This is the history of the Holiday Project.
For many years, St. Luke's offered a back-to-school clinic for local families in need. In 2020, they could no longer do the project, Community Cares and Kiwanis of Oswego partnered to take over the program. Due the pandemic, we changed to a drive-through model and expanded the program to include high school students.
Start Strong truly is a community event. Generous community members donate school supplies from our wish list or make financial contributions so we can buy in bulk. Local businesses sponsor the event and/or make donations. Volunteers stuff backpacks and help distribute them.
Backpacks are available to any local family who is experiencing hardship and needs some help with school supplies. Registration is required. Start Strong will be head on Saturday, August 5th from 9 to 11 am. Distribution will be at the 308 Center located at the corner of Washington and Franklin. Please enter the parking lot on Franklin Street.
